History
The Ward II Water District was created as a political subdivision of the Livingston Parish Police Jury in August of 1975 for the purpose of acquiring and improving a portion of the water system operated by a private corporation, the Greater Livingston Water Company.
By resolution, the Police Jury redefined the boundaries of the district and established the present day operations of its governing board, a five member body appointed by the Police Jury.
In March of 1977, the voters of the district approved a bond issue to purchase and improve the system. This included the laying of 45 miles of water mains.
